How Inductive Learning Transformed Community Engagement in Eastern Uganda

Inductive learning approaches were among the teachings and learning methodologies that the INSSPIRE project emphasized during the COIL workshop in Kampala in October 2024.

Dr Tendo quickly adopted the approach and he has tried it during one of the community engagement sessions in Eastern Uganda. This was during a session on how Science, Technology, and innovation (STI) transfer can contribute to livelihoods by optimizing livestock resources to increase household income, food security, and nutrition security in one of the poorest regions in Uganda. Inductive learning models, such as group discussions, group presentations, and case-based scenarios, were used while delivering the STI packages.

The session was concluded by a wrap-up session where all trainees were gathered in a compound outside the classroom environment, and a bottle top was randomly thrown to the participants, whoever captured it, would give the key learning outcome from the session. This was interactive fun and enhanced learning.
